Nostalgia Kills

You miss it. You miss those times. The people, the lanes, the streets- it is as life you lived an eternity among them. It is as if it was a whole different life, a whole different you.

Reminisce it. Soak yourself in the scent of those nostalgic fragrances as you breathe into your pillow, stiffling another sob under those staggering breathes. Allow your heart to swell and burst as it walks down the memory lane of those bittersweet cinnamon memories of the winter mornings.

And what better time to do it than the depths of the night? When the only One who lived through those experiences with you come down in the last third of the night- only for you. To reminisce your journey with you, laugh at your joy, weep for your sorrows, grieve the loss and hope for the future. He wants to walk those ailes with you, know about the taste of those salty cashwes you had, the sweetness of the fruits you got drunk in, the spices of the various colors that gave you ulcers.

He watches you twisting and turning in agony as you silently soak your pillow with another sleepless night. Thats why He comes down everynight and waits for you behind the clouds. To talk to you, to hear from you.

The Psychology Of Rising Above

The way we act are governed by the preconceived notions of our mind. Claiming to know ourselves to the core, we SOMETIMES choose to believe certain things as far as our potentials are concerned.

When you read the lines above, what are you thinking? Are you guilt tripping yourself because you do not aim high enough or you are taking in inspiration to aim higher? That answer there itself is the key psychology you need to identify and either work on or hold onto.

Because your thoughts dictate your actions, you can choose. Thoughts are nothing but energy. We all know from those afternoon naps in Physics class that energy cant be created or destroyed rather they can only be transformed. So I agree when you say you cant control your thoughts because you are not supposed to. But you can most definitely gear them into what gives you jitters of hope and expectations.

However, even after all these self help serums, the truth remains that some of us are limited in our potentials. We are not extraordinary, we are not gifted, we cant do what others can. We struggle but we cant go any beyond. Our capabilities are limited. We were just not born with them. What about us?

Remember this. We are creations, we are not The Creator. So we cant do anything about what we do not have. But God can. If there is something you want in the creation of yourself but you don’t have, your Creator can create it for you. If you dont have the intelligence, you dont have the talent, you dont have the mental or psychological stamina, you dont have the faith, you dont have the courage, you dont have the resources, the support, whatever it is you do not have, He can create for you, and He can tailor it, customize it,personalize it suited to your individual comfort and ease. There is a reason He has named Himself The Creator, and if you look deeper, you will realise He has not put a limit in His ability to create.

If you can think like this, if you can make attempts based on these thoughts, you will automatically amp up your game. Because in the process of allowing these thoughts to creep in, you have already broken yourself from the shackes of fear. Yes, it was fear and self doubt that was holding you back. And if you didnt realise, more often than not, they were pretending to be in your favor. Pretending.

Have You? Perhaps That’s Why The Delay

Perhaps thats why the delay. You are being asked to look deeper in yourself to truly unleash what it is that is holding you back. Whatever it is you are askiny for, if you were to receive it right now, are you fully equipped to embrace it?

I am not referring to the physical or materialistic preparation. If you are looking for a job, I am not asking if you have the proper skills, if you are looking to get married, I am not asking if you know the secrets to be a perfect spouse, if you are looking to be a parent, I am not asking if you know how to be the best one. You know all of that and what to do. You can find that knowledge anywhere or from anyone.

What I am asking is are you ready and prepared within yourself? Have you cleared away all the shackles that scarred you? Are you completely aware of the myriads of ways your subconcious might have been harboring inhibitions, and if you do, what are you doing to erase them completely?

Receiving the much awaited break, the much awaited joy requires a different form of strength. One that you need to teach yourself. A strength of heart, a strength of faith, a strength of gratitude.

As they say, there is always more to it than meets the eye.

Serendipity: The Divine Craft

If they can’t see what you see, if they fail to understand your beliefs towards your goals, if they cant see you for who you truly are, its okay.

He will show YOU, and YOU will recognise them. He never said they will.

Perhaps they havent seen any better ergo don’t know any better. Perhaps Allah has chosen you with this grandeur of “living your own tale and leaving your own legacy” so through you others get to know it all a little better. Know Him a little better. Know His Serendipities a little better.

Someone very dear to me once said, ” When we are no longer able to change the world around us, we are forced to change what is in ourselves.”  Those words never left me. And now I know why.

You were created for greatness. Don’t sell yourself short. Perhaps you are the missing piece which will change forever the way the universe presumed Serendpities. Perhaps it is through you that not only the world but the even stars and galaxies will witness that Serendipities Are A Divine Orchestra Of Perfectly Crafted Symphonies. Perhaps it is through you that He will change forever the way we love, we dream and we believe. Perhaps it is through you the world will once again live…laugh…

And most importantly,  Love ❤…

Perhaps it is through you that the world will witness once again The Perfection Of Allah. Perhaps through you the creations in their entirety will humble themselves before Him at the sheer awe at which He has crafted the nuances. Yes, all of the creations- not only the cosmos but the angels and the heavens, in adulation of Him. Through you.

If No One Understands You, Chances Are You Are Right

Stories in the Quran are not mere stories. They are real life incidents that have happened. The people are not just characters. They are human beings, with emotions and weaknesses like you and me.

Imagine being in the shoes of Musa’s mother, right after she went through the trauma of throwing her newborn in the deadly Nile, amidst crocs and gators passing by.Did she have any support? Could she have gone to anyone and talk about what she did? Would anyone believe her if she said that Allah inspired her to throw her baby?Afterall she was not a prophet. She was just an everyday believer like you and me.She had no one to counsel her,to tell her she was right. She even doubted her decision and was about to run after her baby. But then the soldiers would find him and kill him.

So Allah intervened and gave her every support that she needed. From giving her the firmness of heart to the ability to plan logically as to what to do next-everything was orchestrated by Him. Against every self-doubt and logic, she blindly held onto Allah-knowing that even if her logic and rationality fails, as long as she would cling on to Allah,He would look after everything for her.Allah became every support, every help, every means she would have needed to survive that challenging moment of her life.

So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of the people do not know. (Quran 28:13)

When you feel there is no one who understands you, chances are you are right, because Allah already says that most people would not know about His promise. When others think that your decision to hold onto your faith is absurd, when you yourself do not know how to explain your faith, then understand that it is a legacy of this great woman Allah has bestowed you with. Allah does not describe her as anything other than a “Mumin”-a true believer. So follow her footsteps and let Allah be your support.Allow Him guide you through the gators of life, and be of the few to witness the truth of His promise.

Sometimes its okay if you are the lone soldier in your fight.

Patience Does Not Forbid You From Grieving

Patience does not forbid you from grieving. Prophet Yaqoob AS is described in the Quran as the epitome of someone who shows patience. Yet He grieved to a point where he lost his eyesight. Did Allah condemn him for his emotions? On the contrary Allah honors his grief.Allah immortalized his grief for centuries to come because we are entitled to our emotions. You are allowed to grieve for your loss, and that does not make you less of a believer. When his own people started mocking his unshakable belief in Allah, that Allah will return his son, Yaqoob AS actually turned to Allah to complain. He cried to a point where he lost his eye sight. Yet He turned only to Allah-a heart full of sorrow yet with profound hope;belief that Allah will return his son. He turned only to Allah because the people around failed him.

When if you go through a crisis and find yourself unable to behave according to everyone’s expectations, if you find others being uncomfortable with your emotions, feel everyone abandoning you for your grief, then know that Allah has honored you with a sunnah(tradition) of this great Prophet. There is a much greater wisdom behind Allah allowing you to be left alone. So hold onto that Beautiful Patience (Sabrun Jameel) of this great Prophet (may peace be upon him)- a patience full of hope radiating from an unfaltering certainty (yaqeen) in the mercy of Allah.

“I only complain of my grief to Allah. I know from Allah that which you do not know. And never give up hope of Allah’s Mercy. Certainly, no one despairs of Allah’s Mercy, except the people who disbelieve.” (Surah Yusuf 12:86-87).

Allah Has Honored You. And Every Human Being

Unquestionably, We have honored all children of Adam (17:70).

As Muslims we believe that mankind was created from Adam and Hawa (Eve), may peace be upon them. Adam AS was the first creation of Allah, and then his wife Hawa. So they are parents of the entire mankind, and that makes every human being, despite culture and faith,  brothers in humanity. In the verse above, Allah says He has honored all children of Adam, and there is absolutely no question about it. Therefore we can not take away the dignity and honor Allah has given to another fellow human being. Of course, the honors vary in ranks. Even among Muslims, the one who struggles hard for Allah has more honor in His sight. But the point remains that we don’t trash talk or dismiss other people simply because of their values.

You might have families and loved ones who have not entered Islam yet. But that does not mean that Allah has written them off. They are also part of this verse. . Even the most beloved uncle of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), named Abu Talib, who was his only guardian on this earth, was not a muslim. Yet Abu Talib helped the Prophet (peace be upon him) spread the message of Islam. The Prophet (peace be upon him) loved his uncle and grieved immensely when his uncle passed away. His uncle was not a muslim yet Allah did honor him by including him in the life of His favorite messenger(peace be upon him).

This verse also means that we need to honor ourselves, give ourselves the respect we deserve. If you are trying hard but you keep slipping, please, don’t criticize and demoralize yourself. Appreciate yourself for the efforts, don’t condemn for the results. Accept that a mistake had been made. A bad deed does not make you a bad person. Allah created us as humans so we do not get to walk on this earth as angels. That is why He gave us a higher honor than angels, because unlike angels we are prone to make mistakes and slide off. But what makes us believers is that we do not give up, neither on ourselves nor on Allah’s  incessant forgiveness.

…mankind was created weak (Quran 4:28)

We continue to ask Allah for forgiveness and keep on trying, albeit we slip. Allah has promised us that as long as we keep returning to Him He will continue to forgive us. For this reason He has even named Himself Al Gaffar-The One who forgives continuously, even when we do not ask. He knows we will make mistakes and fall short of our obedience to Him, time and again. So this name is befitting in that we turn to Allah for forgiveness repeatedly.

In the end, all honor belongs to Allah only, because He is the Owner of Majesty and Honor (Dhul Jalal E Wal Ikram). All honor is from Him, so when He honors someone, we honor them as well.
